VERBROKEN STILTE ...BROKEN SILENCE (1h24m. / spoken in a.o. english, subtitled in dutch / docu-film by Bob Entrop, nl 2013)
Why is there still a big taboo about the genocide of the Sinti and Roma? During World War II, more than 500,000 of them were murdered.
Born in Kosovo, Roma radio reporter Orhan Galjus (nl 1999) joins his friend and filmmaker Bob Entrop. Together they are looking for answers to this question. In 'Broken Silence' they travel together through Germany and Poland have unique encounters with Roma from different countries. Galjus sees how history repeats itself in the present by the increasing discrimination against his people in Europe today. Actually, that hatred never went away.
During the filming process Orhan gets confrontated several times with his past and the fact that his people always have been silent. The viewer sees him change, struggling to suppress his emotions, angry several times and at the end of the Sinti and Roma calls for a positive, non-violent change. If not, then it is a lost nation.
