Marvin Steel Flamenco artist. Heritage, American, Spanish Sephardi, Roma of Russia on my mothers side. The family came from Cordoba, Spain many years ago.
Being persecuted the family moved to Italy, then Yugoslavia, Turkey and finally Odessa, Russia, where they mixed with Romani's. Russia, being as bad as every where, especially to Jews and Gypsies, my grandmother, Manya Scopis, escaped to Boston with the help of family members.
Went to La Acadmeia de San Fernando de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Also studied with private teachers and began painting at the age of 6. Have had exhibits in Spain and the US.
Born Nov. 9th, 1936 in Detroit, Mich. USA

Democratic Transition will bring greater legitimacy and accountability and a democratic process allowing all to participate and work together for better recognition of the Roma Nation and the defeat of "anti-Gypsy" racism.
