We gladly inform you that World Artists Initiative “Khetanes” has been invited to send 3 delegates to the plenary meetings of the European Roma and Travellers Forum (ERTF) in Strasbourg, France. Required language skills: English, French or Romanes.  

The 3 Khetanes members, Roma and Sinti from 3 different European countries, will get their cost of travelling and accommodation reimbursed.

 

• Khetanes is aware of the difference between art and politics, but we firmly believe that art is a tool to strengthen people’s identity and - therefore - their political representation;
• Khetanes makes a clear distinction between art and entertainment: for centuries Roma and Sinti have been marginalized as entertainers. Instead of performing during lunchtime at conferences, they must take the floor before and after the breaks;
• Khetanes holds the principle of direct representation:all 3 delegates will be of Roma/Sinti descent (Els, non-Romani webmaster, will not participate);
• Khetanes fully agrees with late president Václav Havel who said that the fate of Roma and Sinti is the Litmus test for Europe’s democracy. There is no democracy as long as Europe excludes 12 million citizens;
• Khetanes believes that, taken into account the situation in Europe, support from Romanies elsewhere and particularly in both Americas, is important!

C’est avec plaisir que nous vous informons que World Artists Initiative “Khetanes” a été invitée d’envoyer 3 délégués à l’Assemblée plénière du “European Roma and Travellers Forum” (ERTF) à Strasbourg, France. Connaissance de l’anglais ou du français ou du romanes est exigée.

Les 3 membres de Khetanes, Rroms ou Sinti, originaire de 3 pays européens différents, seront remboursés de leurs frais de voyage et de séjour pendant les séances de l’Assemblée plénière.

• Khetanes se rend compte de la différence entre les arts et la politique, mais nous sommes d’opinion que les arts sont un instrument pour renforcer l’identité d’un peuple et, par consequence, sa représentation politique;
• Khetanes fait une claire difference entre les arts et les spectacles de music-hall. Depuis des siècles, Rroms et Sinti ont été marginalisés comme amuseurs. Au lieu de jouer pendant le déjeuner aux conférences, ils méritent de se produire avant et après les pauses;
• Khetanes défend le principe de la représentation directe: tous les 3 délégués sont d’origine rrom/sinti (Els, non-romani webmaster, ne participera pas);
• Khetanes partage le point de vue du Président Václav Havel qui a dit que le destin des Rroms et Sinti est la tinture de tournesol pour la démocratie de l’Europe. Il n’y a pas de démocratie tant que l’Europe exclut 12 millions de ses citoyens;
• Khetanes attache de l’importance au support des Rroms/Sinti de l’Amérique du Nord et du Sud, et ailleurs, vue la grave situation en Europe.

 

Les membres qui s’intéressent à représenter Khetanes à l’Assemblée plénière du ERTF, sont priés d’envoyer un message à [e-mail] . Notez bien que les préparations prendront un peu de temps et que la prochaine séance du ERTF prendra déjà place au mois de JUIN!

Liebe Freunde,

 

Es freut uns mitteilen zu können dass World Artists Initiative „Khetanes“ von dem Europäischen Roma und Travellers Forum (ERTF) in Strasbourg, Frankreich, eine Einladung erhalten hat um 3 Mitglieder abzuordnen für die Generalversammlungen in Strasbourg.

Diese 3 Khetanes Mitglieder, Roma und Sinti, sollten aus 3 verschiedenen europäischen Ländern herkömmlich sein, und die englische oder französische oder romani Sprache beherrschen. Alle Reise- und Aufenthaltskosten während Generalversammlungen werden von ERTF erstattet.

 

• Khetanes begreift dass es Unterschiede gibt zwischen Kunst und Politik, aber wir glaube dass Kunst ein Instrument ist um die Identität von Menschen zu verstärken und – deshalb – ihre politische Vertretung;
• Khetanes macht einen klaren Unterschied zwischen Kunst und Unterhaltung. Jahrhunderte lang wurden Roma und Sinti am Rande eingesetzt als Unterhaltungskünstler. Statt zu statieren während der Mittagspause, sollten sie sich aktiv beteiligen an die Diskussionen;
• Khetanes hält fest am Grundsatz von direkter Vertretung. Die Abgeordneten müssen Roma und Sinti sein (Els, non-romani Webmaster wird nicht teilhaben);
• Khetanes ist völlig einverstanden mit der Aussage des verstorbenen Präsidenten Václav Havel dass das Schicksal der Roma und Sinti den Lackmustest für die europäische Demokratie ist. Es gibt keine Demokratie so lange Europa 12 Millionen Bürger ausschliesst;
• Khetanes glaubt dass, die Lage in Europa in Betracht genommen, Unterstützung von Roma und Sinti sonst wo in der Welt, besonders in Nord- und Südamerika, wichtig ist.

 

Mitglieder die Khetanes vertreten möchten bei den ERTF Vollversammlungen werden gebeten einen E-Mail zu schicken an [e-mail] . Bitte, achten Sie darauf dass die nächste Vollversammlung schon in JUNI stattfindet.

On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 June, the European Roma and Travellers Forum is organizing its next Plenary Assembly in Strasbourg. The ERTF has not yet decided about the final delegates on behalf of Khetanes.

Yet the Executive Committee finds it important that two Khetanes members will attend the Plenary meeting. The Board has invited:

Salomeea Romanescu, professor of languages and former member of CRISS, and Sani Rifati, director of Voice of Roma, dancer, dance instructor and radio journalist. Both Roma activist will travel to Strasbourg at the invitation of the ERTF.

We thank the board of the Forum for the invitation!

A cooperation between the ERTF and Khetanes remains on the agenda for the nearest future. Details on the delegates, schedules and conditions will be published here and in broadcasting messages.
