Seeking Partner for EU Roma Education Project

Asociatia 'Agrustic Somnacuni - Inel de Aur' in Romania and Aureo Anello Associazione in Florence seek a partner in a third EU or other participating country for a work/study project where Roma in Florence restore a historic anti-slavery cemetery, earning the money and learning the alphabet, to return home to Romania to better their housing and educate their children at home as well as at school. We create booklets with drawings in four languages (Romani, Romanian, Italian, English, and these can be in another language as well with a partner), the first being Romani, on housing, health care, and Roma culture for both Roma and Gadje. We have a web site, http://www.ringofgold.eu and invite contributions and suggestions. We feel strongly the need to preserve and showcase Roma culture and skills, instead of substituting for these those of the dominant culture, believing both can co-exist and contribute to each other. In a sense our proposal counters theirs in being more about acculturating Gadje to Roma, integrating both sides while not destroying Roma culture and families, instead show-casing Roma skills with the restoration of a highly visible historic monument and using its fine library and workshop for schooling and sharing. We call the project 'From Graves to Cradles'.
