My city, Cincinnati, OH in the USA is doing a series of TED talks. According to their website, "each year, the world's leading thinkers and doers gather for an event many describe as the highlight of their year. Attendees have called it "The ultimate brain spa" and "A 4-day journey into the future, in the company of those creating it."  These talks are HUGE all across the world and have attracted many, many wonderful speakers. Now, the TED program run local speaking series known as TEDx. In April, Cincinnati is having "TEDxCincinnatiChange".

I have found myself on the organizing committee for this and I think it would be a GREAT platform for this initiative. I would love to be able to invite some members from Khetanes to participate and speak at the conference. I know that many members are not in the USA, so that would make it difficult, since I have no access to funds to support people. However, we have a living space that is available to someone should they wish to come to participate.

If no one is available, I would very much like to present on behalf of this initiative--however, I don't want to step up or step on toes if there is someone more qualified than me. I will help however I can, or I would be willing to present on a schedule of information provided to me by Els or others on this site.

TEDxCincinnati is open for speaker nominations and soon for registration. Since the date is only a couple of months away I would love to get moving on this. I think it's a great opportunity for the initiative. The event will be video'd and all speakers videos will be available to watch on the website immediately following the event--which then could become material to be used for this site in other ventures.

Please let me know if anyone is interested or how we should do this.

Thanks.

Dear Qristina,

We do have many members from USA and Canada. Press the Who is Who button and see alle categories. Many of the writers for example are from the States, but also other artists can be found there.

To see who are in the Main and Daily Board (Council of Participants) you click the button Foundation and will find all the names. Dr. Ian Hancock is vice-president (Texas) and one of the 5 Main Board Members. In the Daily Board you will find Glenda Bailey-Mershon and Ciuin Ferrin from the States. Artists and activists from Canada in the Daily Board are: Lynn Hutchinson Lee, Monica Bodirsky and Josef Banom. It does not necessarily have to be a Board member. Our web administrator (together with Lukas) is Xylena (Florida).

I think it is a wonderful idea you have and I suggest that you start contacting Glenda, Ciuin and Ian Hancock. I am sure we can find people who are willing to participate. Let's discuss the topics a bit.

You can contact everybody through this site (by visiting their individual pages and sending them a mail, just find them by typing their name on the members' site). It's very easy and if it does not werk, let me know!

Our American members are quite active! Lots of successes!

Els

P.S.: Wonderful, I see that Ciuin already reacted! She is involved here in IRADL, just like Glenda, (anti defamation) and has her own foundation on the Porrajmos, studying to have a museum in the nearest future!

Wow, so many awesome people doing so many great thing! I can't wait to get involved!!! :) Thanks for the information, I will certainly go ahead and contact Dr. Hancock and the others.

Do you have the dates yet?

I regret to say I have an engagement that weekend. O Porrajmos Education Society has a small seminar planned on April 7 for women regarding safety and the internet. I would like to attend, but can't.

With regret,

Ciuin

Oh :( that's sad. Though, your seminar sounds very interesting too! I'd love to hear more about O Porrajmos Education Society,.

Baxt,

Qristina

I contacted Dr. Hancock today, but I am assuming he is too busy to come and speak. I hope he can point me in the way of someone who might be able to.

Q

Dear Qristina,

Please, check the Who is Who list. I don't know by heart all the members living "close" (the States are big), but I am sure you will find interested artists.

But baxt!

Els

Najis Tuke Hans,

This is a TEDx event, as I mentioned, and these are independent local community events that do not fall under the main TED series. We are arranging an event here in my city to bring awareness to important issues. Although not directly under TED, we must follow certain rules and regulations that TED have set forth.

So, I see your TED profile, which is wonderful, but that does not help me in this event. Did you give a talk at TED? Perhaps I can watch it for ideas for this event? Unless you think that I should not consider presenting?

BTW, I love the idea and inspiration of the Kali Ji Institute!

Aš Devlesa.

Qristina
