The Queen of the Gipsy - Sinti Music and winner of the Romane Romnja Award 2012 - Piroschka Triska our cultural ambassador
(an interview)

Romane Romnja:
What were the reactions you have receive on the Romane Romnja Award 2012 as cultural ambassador?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
The reactions were very positive, my family and friends were happy with me and for me.

Romane Romnja:
What it means to be Culture Ambassador for you?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
I am a musical ambassador of culture, and I trying to bring our culture, songs, music, dance and art to the people. The music connects us to people all over the world. The music touches the heart and the text in the song's invite the people to think about the message. The music is love, hope, faith and art of life for our people!

Romane Romnja:
You are an international cultural ambassador, actually since your childhood, always on behalf of the music on the move, as were and are the reactions of the majority population?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
25 years ago I had a lot of gypsy jazz and swing and Austro-Hungarian folk music with my father and my family every year from March to November on tour. For 8 years I have expanded my repertoire. I also make several Sinti and Roma folk music, and writing my own songs. I work alongside my work as a musician, artist and with enlightening theater programs, and participate with my group Tabor, at many different educational projects. Of course you have to assert themselves with it. It is good if you can explain to the audience.

Romane Romnja:
How important is it to reach you through your music, concerts by your people and to sensitize you to our language, our culture, and also against discrimination and covert discrimination in society?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
Very important!
How else would such famous works such as 'Hungarian Dances by Brahms, the Hungarian Rhapsodies of Liszt, the Gypsy Airs by Sarasate, Ravel or Tzigan arisen without the influence of the Sinti and Roma music.
Above all, the music can reach people and raise awareness of our culture and our language.
That's why I'm with my group Tabor also deliberately made a new CD (Teli lichta) with self-written and composed songs in Romany. In our texts, then the language of everyday things are made.

Romane Romnja:
What are the questions that visitors come to your events to you?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
With a variety of issues, e.g. if I can fortunetelling, where I come from, what other country, the difference between Roma and Sinti, where do the Roma Gypsies and whether we still travel, etc.

Romane Romnja:
You are music and drama teacher and also doing a lot of educational projects since many years in different countries, what are the concrete projects and what have you done with it experiences?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
There are school projects, education projects and cultural projects, singing lessons, ect
Very good experience I've had in the Netherlands , unfortunately only in Germany not. The teachers were willing to implement projects, but the parents of some students protested against our educational work. It does not happen always, but it happens occasionally.
It went better with our musical theater program, "The long journey from India to Persia to Europe ," the theater program "o Dschipen (life),
all of our music programs and theater workshops and programs are successful because they are assumed to be much interest.
Our project "Dschipen o" (life), which currently in Holland is very successful, simply shows how a musical group, in this case, our music group "Tabor" lives-what they love, how they live, suffer and survive, as does our nation for centuries.

Romane Romnja:
You are a mother of 3 Teeanger, two girls, from going as in everyday life with their identity in order to experience the teeanger disadvantages?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
Yes and no, it depends on with whom you are dealing with. Disadvantages are found again and again, but on the other hand, they must fight back!

Romane Romnja:
How do you feel about the information which is in the air, Gypsies can not and do not cooperate well together?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
In music there are no such problems. Everyone has a different opinion and view it.

Romane Romnja:
Besides your passion for music and theater you are also passionate writer, what projects are you working currently?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
I'm writing a book, it's about life - all facets of life.

Romane Romnja:
What message do you have for our women and girls and children?
Culture Ambassador Piroschka Triska:
It is never too late to learn. Again and again, get up and go
Culture and Education is very important to us and our children. Old patterns have to pass it sometimes, to look into the future. Goals to achieve in life, and believe.

But Bacht te Sastepen
