The Image of the Roma in the Movies

I watched Kusturica´s Black/White Cat with a group of Roma and  they  hated it. The same with others, where there are the Roma shown as petty criminals or  more, using their skills to betray others - Roma and Non-Roma.Are these kinds  of portraits  of the Roma damaging  or are  they "just movies"?

Yes Zuzana, The Media is one of the grates enemy to Roma People.

We need to change that.

This film maker, is one of the
Greatest example for Roma stereotype.
I don't fine funny at all this stupid
Movies he makes. He is not a Rom,
Why he is not making funny movies for
Serbians, why he always make fun of
Our Romani people. I think he hates
Roma and this is his way to expose
His behavior. In Bulgaria also have
many Nationalists in the Media like
Slavi Trifonov and Todor Kolev who is
Dead, but his movies still making
Damage of the image of Roma people.
That is one of the reason for existing
Of websites like ours.
We need to show the other side of the Roma
