Dear Aaron,
First of all: warm welcome on this site! Under the tab Who is Who you will find the others, writers, musicians, sculptors, filmmakers, reporters and scholars. Many of them also being human rights activists, though you will also see a special group of activists. More info can be found on the individual pages.
An interesting group for you to join may be the International Romani Anti Defamation League (IRADLE group). That group is spotting racism in culture and media and sent out letters of protest about e.g. American Gypsies, MBFGW and more. See also the Brown Soup Blog on this page.
In the States are quite some strong activists, as you will see. I hope you will be happy to closely cooperate with them.
