Hi, All,

At Viola's request, I have posted above my letter to National Geographic. Above that is the link to the Romanizor Letter Writing Campaign page, where it also appears and where you can also leave comments.

I would love help compiling the list of films National GEO could use instead of American Gypsies. I need the list separated into Romani and non-Romani filmmakers, as the point is to indicate that they should let the community  speak for itself through our filmmakers, but they also can find non-Romani filmmakers who have deeper ties to the community and therefor more insight into it than does the Karate Kid! I can't think of a better group to compile that list than Khetanes.

And thanks, Mona. I'd like to make this the basis for a bigger OpEd piece, and I'd like to quote from you and also Gwendolyn Albert's excellent piece. I will contact you when I get a draft, for your approval.

Brava on the letter, Glenda! Very well said! Mona, your article was right on point! Brava to you as well! I think Mona should send a copy of her piece to Nat Geo too. OPES also has a letter out, so perhaps if they see several different organizations with similar though different letters it may get their attention.

Good ideas, Ciuin! I think it might have a bigger impact that way.

Happy, "just" sincerely happy to see you stand up and fight back!

I'm very sure NatGeo knows of the Guardian piece - I spotted several instances of astroturfing in the commnents, they're using the same talking points. Might need to be more strategic in terms of PR - getting something in the NYTimes or on public radio would be the next logical step, as well as reaching out to ADL and org groups who can join in.
