Ah, I see why you are concerned about copyrights, Els. We are more casual here, I guess.
But a book of our own--not impossible, especially via POD. First things first--the press pack, then our own publishing company. (A joke, please don't panic.)
Lacho divves/rjat, Phralale thaj Pheniale,
I have just come back from a short trip and am catching up.
I thought I would post here a letter I wrote to the Hungarian embassy concerning the situation in Gyöngyöspata, along with the addresses of several embassies and diplomatic stations. I offer it humbly as a template for letters, and to save others time with the addresses.
Dear M. _______:
I am writing to express grave concern about reports of neo-nazi Garda groups surrounding Roma citizens in Gyöngyöspata, Hungary.
There appears to be no protection for this community coming from the Hungarian government authorities, including local police, nor any concern expressed for the safety of their Roma citizens—children beating beaten and harassed on the way to school, adults followed, threatened, and beaten when they try to work, go to market, or retrieve their children from school.
Either the rule of law applies to all Hungarian citizens, or none are safe. Why is such violence, intimidation, and interference with the rights of citizens being allowed by the authorities?
How can you ignore this in your home country? And how is this setting an example for the integration of the Roma into European society, which Hungary's incumbent in the presidency of the EU, János Martonyi, has proposed and called for?
More importantly, what will you do to make this stop and to ensure that it never happens again?
The world is watching.
Yours truly,
Embassy of the Republic of Hungary
